Best Wedding Photos 2015

Best Wedding Photos 2015- 2015 was an incredible year for us at Brooks Range Photography.  We grew from a small shop to a full studio with 3 full time photographers.  We ended up with 56 booked sessions.  Everything from Bridal Sessions, Engagements and Weddings.  We traveled everywhere from Alaska, Washington and Wisconsin.  Out of all the events we shot this year we wanted to put together a little collection of our most favorites.  Thanks for an amazing year and we can't wait to see what 2016 brings!

Wedding Photographer Issaquah- Catrina and Patrick Tibbitt's Creek Manor

Wedding Photographer Issaquah- Catrina and Patrick Tibbitt's Creek Manor I got to spend some time with Catrina and Patrick a couple of months ago for their engagement shoot.  I love spending time with clients when it is just us like on engagement shoots.  Gives us a chance to work together and get to know each other.  That way when the wedding comes around it's like seeing old friends!

These guys did an amazing job decorating Tibbetts Creek Manor in Issaquah.  It was beautiful ceremony.  Such a great group of family and friends.  Congrats you two!

Bride and Groom with Northern Lights- Fairbanks, Alaska

Bride and Groom with Northern Lights- Fairbanks, Alaska I had the pleasure of meeting with these clients early to brainstorm some ideas of where we can shoot their bridal session.  From Singapore, they were excited to see Alaska and what it has to offer.  They were interested in getting photos under the Northern Lights.  Now to forecast Northern Lights is tough!  We have to have clear skies, and a solar eve

nt.  We chose Fairbanks for the ability to get as far North as possible.  The day we arrived, the weather socked in.  I called a friend at the National Weather Service who confirmed there is cloud cover over all of the road system.  His only advice was to get out there and hope for a hole in the sky.  Not only do we need to hope for the hole, but there has to be Northern Lights!  I was really nervous.  I wanted to be successful for these guys who traveled so far.  Well, the first night we scored.  We found a hole in the sky, and sure enough some lights came through.

The 2nd night we had to drive about 60 miles South to find some clear skies.  We stumbled across an airfield just south of Nenana and witnessed a fantastic Northern Lights show.  What an amazing time!

So for traveling so far, and having never been in cold weather like this (-30) these clients earned the pictures.

Engagement Issaquah | Catrina and Patrick

Engagement Issaquah | Catrina and Patrick On Sunday I had a chance to catch up with Catrina and Patrick for an engagement shoot in Issaquah.  We had been trying to connect to get some engagement shoots done for a couple of weeks and the weather would just not cooperate.  Luckily on Sunday the sun came out and gave us an amazing backdrop.  We found a quant park right in the middle of town by the Costco Headquarters and just went for a walk to see what we could find.  We got so lucky, we had the entire place to ourselves!

Wedding M/V Skansonia | Joe and Mona

Wedding M/V Skansonia | Joe and Mona I remember when I first met with Mona and Joe to talk about their wedding I couldn't believe they told me they had rented the M/V Skansonia, an old retired ferry with lots of history.  What a cool venue!  And the potential of having the ceremony itself outside with the Seattle skyline at night as the backdrop!  What an awesome idea!  As with all weddings, weather is a factor.  And the truth was it rained all week before the wedding.  But, on the actual wedding day the clouds parted and the sun came out.  What a beautiful and clear night for an outdoor wedding!

Engagement Port Townsend | Gina and Kevin

Engagement Port Townsend | Gina and Kevin Gina, Kevin and I have been trying to connect for an engagement shoot for what seems like weeks now!  Between our schedules and the weather it was clear we all were anxious to get out there and take some photos.  Looking at the weather Sunday appeared to have some potential.  Kevin and Gina had thought Port Townsend would be a fun day trip to take, explore and take some photos.  While there we found Fort Worden.  What a cool place!  And to think, we had the whole place basically to ourselves!  Speaking of having it to ourselves, the ferry ride from Edmonds to Kingston was pretty empty.  That gave us some time to get some fun and unique photos on the Washington State Ferry!  All I can say is I can't wait for Gina and Kevin's wedding in August 2016!

Wedding Monte Cristo Ballroom Everett | Alexandra and Alexander

Wedding Monte Cristo Ballroom Everett | Alexandra and Alexander I love the Monte Cristo Ballroom in Everett.  This place is a class act.  From butlers for the bride and groom to get them whatever they need, all day, to someone who opens the door for you.  This place is all about attention to detail!  I have to admit it was so nice to have such professionals running the show, making sure everything was in place and that the bride and groom can just relax.  We had so much fun at this wedding. Alex and Alexandra have such amazing family and friends and we were so happy to be part of their amazing day.  And rain wouldn't even stop these two from getting out and taking some amazing photos!!

Engagement Photos Whatcom Falls Bellingham | Victoria and Jon

Engagement Photos Whatcom Falls Bellingham | Victoria and Jon Victoria and I had been emailing for quite some time trying to find the best ideas and locations for a photo shoot.  For them, it needed to include water, and the outdoors.  We had scheduled the engagement shoot long in advance and as the time came closer the weather was a little threatening.  We decided to press on and see what happened, and boy am I glad we did.  The fall weather, the colors on the leaves, and the overcast skies created an incredible setting for the engagement shoot!  Whatcom falls is a great location that can get crowded easily.  Luckily we were able to do the shoot mid week and it felt like we had the whole park to ourselves!!  Can't wait for Victoria and Johns wedding in April!

Bridal Session Yakima Washington | Logan and Sheila

Bridal Session Yakima Washington | Logan and Sheila Simon and I photographed Sheila and Logan's wedding in Seattle on June 20th.  They got married at a beautiful venue downtown Seattle, but wanted something a little more when it came to some of the photos they have.  The best solution was a Bridal Session after the wedding.  For this we choose another future date where the two got dressed back up and we headed out somewhere totally different.  Logan and Sheila choose Yakima.  We had a lot of fun exploring the area together and got some great shots!

Engagement Photos Kirkland | Kirsten and Greg

Engagement Photos Kirkland | Kirsten and Greg I had an absolute blast spending time with Kirsten and Greg and their fur baby Wookie.  I love it when couples bring their pets with them to photo shoots.  I like it even more when the pets are included in the special events!  My understanding is Wookie is going to be in the wedding!  You will have to wait till February to see those photos!

Guemes Island Resort | Ashley and Aaron

Guemes Island Wedding | Ashley and Aaron Ashley and Aaron are very adventurous.  And when it came to planning their wedding, they had to keep with that lifestyle. I first met Ashley for coffee several months ago and was quickly excited to learn of the details of what she had planned!  I assure you, any bridal consultation that starts with "we would like to start early and hike 2.5 miles to the top of Guemes Mountain to get some photos before the event" has me written all over it.

True to form, the hike was perfect.  We had the whole place to ourselves.  Ashley being an active outdoors woman hiked with her dress in hand.  Once at the top she changed and we captured some amazing photos with the San Juan Islands in the background, and some with Mt Baker.  Back at the Guemes Island Resort we prepared for the wedding day.  What incredible weather.  Such a payoff for planning a September wedding.  The ceremony site had Mt Baker lined up right behind the two.  Perfect spot.  They made a weekend out of it.  Their friends, all active outdoors people got a chance to play in the water, hike, bike and even had time for some yoga in the morning!

Congratulations Ashely and Aaron and thank you for having us at your wedding!  We loved it!

Wedding Waterways Cruises South Lake Union | DeAnna Lee and John

Wedding Waterways Cruises South Lake Union | DeAnna Lee and John I have been working with John and DeAnna Lee for several months.  They are a great couple, I love spending time with them.  I also am madly in love with their french bulldog Dixie!  I got a chance to spend a lot of time with these two during the engagement shoot.  DeAnna is a local celebrity and active in the community.  She and John are rather new to the area and were looking for something fun and unique to do for their wedding to share with their family and friends of which most would be coming from out of state.  They chose to book the Waterways Cruises out of Lake Union.  What a cool trip!  They got married on the boat by the Captain of the ship with the Seattle skyline as their backdrop.  It doesn't get any better then that!  And because poor little Dixie couldn't join us for the cruise (no dogs allowed) we met up with her at Gas Works Park where the bride and groom did their first look with their beloved Frenchie.

Wedding Suncadia Resort Elum Washington | Samantha and Shay

Wedding Suncadia Resort Elum Washington | Samantha and Shay This is an absolutely amazing place!  It's a beautiful lodge in the middle of some beautiful country!

Samantha and Say had an incredible wedding day.  They chose to have the ceremony outside overlooking the mountains and the bluffs.  It offered an incredible backdrop!  We had the reception over by the lake in a beautiful setting.  I got a chance to work with a videographer Reid from Best Made Videos.   He was great to work with. You can check out the video from this wedding on his blog HERE.

Bottom line, Suncadia Resort is a great place for a wedding!  Can't wait to go back! I know I have another wedding there in February, and I can't wait!
